Prasanth Varma Firm on 'Hanu-Man' Sankranti Release Despite Challenges

Renowned director Prasanth Varma stands steadfast in his decision not to withdraw his movie, 'Hanu-Man,' from the competitive Sankranti race. Despite concerns about potential box office impact due to other big releases, Varma emphasizes the strategic reasons behind sticking to the scheduled release date of 12th January, a decision made six months prior.

Originally slated for a May release, post-production delays prompted the team to reschedule, and with the Sankranti season deemed opportune, the release date was finalized. 'Hanu-Man' distinguishes itself as the sole pan-Indian release among the Pongal offerings, presented in nine languages. The film's business has been concluded, with promotions in the North market exceeding 5 crores, generating buzz nationwide following the trailer launch.

For Varma, it's not merely about the investment; it's about fulfilling commitments and completed business. Despite suggestions from producer Dil Raju to consider alternative dates for potentially higher revenue, Varma maintains that it's not about ego or prestige but a matter of circumstances beyond his control. Hopeful for the success of at least three films during the Sankranti season, Varma anticipates a fierce competition among five movies in the second week of January.
